What is Legal Aid?

The Legal Aid Agency helps meet the costs of legal advice and representation at Court. To qualify, there is a certain criterion that needs to be met for financial assistance.

How do I know whether I am eligible?

For us to be able to assess whether you are eligible for Legal Aid, we will require the following information and supporting evidence: -

  • Your income
  • Details of any benefits
  • Your savings
  • Your assets, including any properties owned by you.

The required information will also need to be provided on behalf of your partner (if applicable).

PLEASE NOTE: Legal Aid may not cover all of the associated costs of your present case. You may be required to: -

  • Pay some of the costs upfront
  • Pay back a portion of the costs if you are successful (win) your case. This includes any property.

Debt Disputes

Should you be eligible for Legal Aid, we will be able to assist in the following debt disputes: -

  • Possession Proceedings
  • Evictions by your mortgage lender
  • Enforcement of Court Judgements following the Order for Sale of your home
  • Challenging a creditor’s bankruptcy petition
